Held between April 16–19, 2025, with the support of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, the 8th International Congress on Health Sciences and Life featured a remarkable scientific study by Prof. Dr. Şahin Ahmedov, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Director of the Institute of Graduate Studies at World Peace University.
Prof. Dr. Ahmedov’s research, titled “The Impact of Office Chair Type on Static & Dynamic Performance,” statistically revealed that wheeled office chairs cause imbalance in individuals and negatively affect both static and dynamic performance. The study found that sitting on a stationary chair promotes better posture stability and increases walking speed compared to wheeled chairs.
Given that global literature suggests individuals spend an average of seven hours per day in a seated position, the choice of an ergonomic chair becomes critically important. Prof. Dr. Ahmedov emphasized that this pilot study should be supported with more comprehensive research and that the resulting findings could offer significant contributions to society.
