Speaking at the reception held in the Assembly Hall of Honor, President Töre said that the Turkish Cypriot People are a part of the greater Turkish world and established the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Expressing that they are honored to be a member of the Turkish nation, Töre noted that Turkish Cypriots love Azerbaijan very much and feel very close to them.
Töre stated that Northern Cyprus now has a homeland beyond Anatolia, and its name is Azerbaijan.
President Töre emphasized that they do not see the Turkish States established in Central Asia as different from themselves and said, “To discriminate means to create mischief, this is not right. “As the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said, ‘How happy is the one who says he is a Turk’ is an example for all of us,” he said.
Töre said that they are united with Azerbaijan and are pleased with the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh from occupation.
President Töre emphasized that they are observer members of the Organization of Turkic States and will become full members in the near future.
President of the Assembly of the Republic, Zorlu Töre, stated that they want to cooperate with the Turkish states in the economic and cultural fields.
Azerbaijani National Assembly Deputy Elman Nasirov said that they attach importance to relations with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and are pleased with its membership in the Organization of Turkish States.
President Töre then showed the guest delegation around the Assembly of the Republic.
